It is also available to download in the Members Area. However, as far as I can work out the USB transmission will only work on Windows 98 and possibly Windows XP. Also, transmission is extremely slow. You can also play a MIDI file on your PC and record it using your onboard sequencer. You won't get such good results. I'm not sure why you would do either of the above though, floppy disk is much quicker and SD Card is the fastest way.
Best wishes, Mike. Joined: March 31, 2015 Re: Loading SMF files direct from a computer I actually have a Tyros but our local community centre for the over fifties which I support has been donated a KN7000. That's why I'm keen to 'get to grips' with it instead of lugging my Tyros each time to the centre. Anyway, with ref to the thread, silly me!
I misread the instructions and got confused with the SD lid and the keyboard lid. I can now use the SD card to save the KN7000 registrations and also to transfer the midi files I have recorded on the Tyros. The next problem is that I have put lyrics to my recordings which work quite well on the Tyros. They also work on the KN7000 except that if I mute the sounds of the Song I can't get the 'live' Rhythm to work when I play the song although I can use the right hand voices. This is something I do on the Tyros; I mute the Song completely and play live to the lyrics which come up on the display.
How can I do this with the KN7000? With the keyboard linked up to a large screen I want to play sing-alongs at the community centre without the need for song sheets.
Joined: March 31, 2015 Re: Loading SMF files direct from a computer Still can't get this to work. I can play the melody with a different instrument on top of the smf song melody but I can't play the rhythm on top of the smf song rhythm. The idea is to turn the volume of the smf song to zero, show the lyrics and for me to play 'live' the rhythm and the melody following the lyrics only. This way I can change the melody instruments ad lib. It looks as if this isn't possible on the KN7000.
One may think what is the point in playing an smf if you turn the volume down. The reason is that I want to start the smf so I can see the lyrics which video out onto a TV screen. Pl I To Cobol Converter Online. Then I want to play the melody and backing live.
I don't want to 'mime' the backing. Joined: February 2, 2014 Re: Loading SMF files direct from a computer I think I understand what's happening. You are playing the MIDI file using Direct Play? You need to Load the MIDI file into the Sequencer and save it as a Technics sequence. Then you can record the Rhythm starting at the same moment as the sequence starts and mute the background tracks.
Then you will be able to have the lyrics play back in time with the music and trigger your normal fills etc whilst you are playing along. I guess you might need some help with this so let me know how you get on, I don't have time to write the whole procedure tonight. Maybe you can email me one of your files and I'll put it into a sequence so that we can see whether it works for you. Joined: February 2, 2014 Re: Loading SMF files direct from a computer Hi Malcolm, You sent me a MIDI of you playing onthe Tyros (nice) and I've sent you back a Technics Sequence and Current Panel file.
It will still need a bit of playing with. I Loaded the MIDI file off a floppy disk.
Copied Tracks 1 and 3 to Tracks 16 and 15, Just in case I wanted them later. Cleared Tracks 1 and 3, so that you'll be able to choose your right and left sounds as normal without them being played by the sequencer. I then made a new Track 7. I assigned the Rhythm to that Track (RHY) and I did a step record. In the step record, on the first beat of the first measure I selected 'Stride Piano' Rhythm because that suits the song and then I pressed the Start Button (to record the Rhythm being started). I then muted all tracks except for my track 7. All track 7 does is set the Rhythm to Stride Piano and starts the Rhythm playing.
