As many of you know in the late 1960s and early 1970s Movado and Zenith were all but one company. Some of the watches Movado and Zenith produced were the exact same watch just signed differently on the dial. There were even Movado Watches with clasps signed Zenith. I noticed something strange on some of these watches (Movados and Zeniths from the late 1960s/early 1970s).
It seems that only a reference number is provided on (some of) them. The reference number is a nine digit number with dashes after the third and sixth numbers. There is no evidence of any markings on these watches being worn away; in fact I even saw a nos Movado with just the one number.
Does anyone know anything about the serial numbers of these watches? Are there some models where there are no serial numbers (just reference numbers) on the watches?
